The Academy

The Nice Place Foundation Academy receives girls who recently completed their Secondary school level and have passion in discovering the gender gaps that exist within the community and the possible ways of bringing resolutions by filling them.

The Leadership training program runs for an approximate of 9-12 weeks.

This training empowers girls to understand their position and roles in the discriminative society as they prepare to join colleges and universities. The academy creates a group of ambassadors who can raise their voices in advocating for
their rights, providing technological solution as well as leading given a chance.

Leadership

Our Leadership training offers an intensive oversight of leadership matters surrounding the young women and the entire community. The program trains girls on how to become a new version of leaders who can find and provide relevant solutions for local issues and understanding that local issues are of global importance.

At the end of the 12 Weeks, girls are able to:

Advocacy

Advocacy is about influencing decisions in the world around us. Our program teaches girls to use facts, relationships, and powerful messaging to educate and influence public policy and laws. Through this, we equip them with the tools to apply what they've learned to advocate for issues that affect them and their communities.

At the end of the 12 Weeks, girls are able to:

Computer Coding & digital empowerment

We believe technology is a powerful tool for change, particularly for young African women who are underrepresented in tech. By teaching coding and digital skills, we unlock new possibilities. Our program opens the door to problem-solving, innovation, and global connection, equipping girls with the skills they need to

At the end of the 12 Weeks, girls are able to:

Personal Development

This course is about building the personal attributes that make a great leader. We teach our girls about etiquette and social skills to help them build relationships, earn trust, and lead teams effectively. This is where they develop the self-confidence and personal attributes needed to navigate the world with poise and make a positive impact.

This course is divided into two parts:

Sexual Reproductive Health

Sexual-health education provides young people with the knowledge and skills to promote their health and well-being as they mature into sexually healthy adults.

Etiquette & Social Skills

Personal attributes that influence how well one works or interacts with others, making it easier to form relationships, build trust and be dependable, and lead teams.

Environment Conservation

At our Leadership Academy, we believe that nurturing young girls to become responsible leaders also means empowering them to care for the environment. Environmental conservation is more than protecting trees, water, and wildlife. It is about safeguarding the future for ourselves and generations to come. Through our training, the girls learn that every action matters. By practicing proper waste management, planting trees, conserving water, and embracing sustainable farming, they become champions of change in their homes and communities.

Selection Criteria

After application, the selection committee keenly goes through the applicant list to correctly identify the best qualified girls. A second wave of the training is usually given to any girl who didn’t secure a spot in the first Cohort of that specific year.

The girls are selected in three ways:

Check Box with Check Alternative Rites of Passage (ARP): Gone through Alternative Rites of Passage (ARP) and selected as Miss ARP in their community

Check Box with Check Rescue Centre Program: Gone through the Nice Place Foundation Rescue Centre and meet the criteria

Check Box with Check Direct Application: Applied to join the Nice Place Foundation and have been selected by the Community Advisory Council
